Algebra II Prerequisite: Algebra I, Geometry Grade: 10-11-12 (Requirement for regular diploma, core 40, and AHD) Credits: Two semesters, two credits (2) Description: This course continues and extends topics of elementary Algebra and introduces such new topics as logarithms, polynomial functions, complex numbers, sequences and series, matrices and determinants. Increasing emphasis is placed on the function concept and on the use of properties of real numbers in proofs. The course work is designed for the student who plans a career in which mathematics plays a major role and normally includes three-fourths to one hour of preparation time daily. It is recommended that a student's previous record should include about-average grades in Algebra I and Geometry.
