 Enables students to achieve high standards and competencies in economic principles in contexts of high relevancy and applicability to their individual, family, workplace, and community lives. A project-based approach that utilizes higher order thinking, communication, leadership, and management processes is recommended in order to integrate suggested topics into the study of individuals and family issues.

 Interrelationships among economic principles and individual and family roles of exchanger, consumer, producer, saver, investor, and citizen. Economic principles to be studies include scarcity, supply and demand, market structure, the role of government, money and the role of financial institutions, labor productivity, economic stabilization, and trade.
