Announcements:
• You will need your binder, writer's notebook and a
pen or pencil every day this week.
• English 7 Final Exam—I give a two part final
exam.
• The first part is oral and the second part is
written. The oral exam is all about knowledge of the crafting
techniques used in good writing. Each student will be given a
paragraph or two of text from something we read in class this school
year. It could be from a novel, short story, poem, or picture
book. They will not see their paragraph(s) ahead of time. At
that time they will put the text up on the projector in front of the
class and explain how the author crafted the sample of text to make it
“good writing.” No notes or handouts are allowed during the
oral exam. In the past, this is usually the part of the exam on
which the students do best.
• The written final exam is multiple choice.
Students may use anything in his or her English binder to take the test
(including writer’s notebook and all handouts). It shows me how
the student has learned to use his or her resources to answer questions
about English/Language Arts content and standards. I will not
provide copies of things the students have lost, but they are welcome to
get copies from friends on their own time and dime. I do not
expect the library or office to make copies for them.
