This is a general science course. This course will contain basic knowledge of the structure of the universe and the physical principles on which it runs, with an emphasis on the concepts of matter and energy. Scientific thinking will be integrated throughout the curriculum. Basic algebra will be applied to specific concepts such as speed, force, work, etc…. There are four nine-week grading periods, which are divided evenly between two semesters. The main focus first semester is on scientific thinking, and the physical & living environment of the Earth. The second semester focus is on the physical forces related to non-living things. Historical events will be recognized throughout the entire year. Technology is used to enhance the curriculum through assessment, research, writing, and interactive software.
