| ....so the adventure begins. I never really
worried about my health or thought much about what would happen if I was
diagnosed with a life threatening illness. It just seems that life
for me goes on as usual. However, a phone call during the end of
June would change this forever.
I was so busy last year, finishing my masters degree in educational technology. I worked as a graduate assistant with a wonderful group of people researching the affect of digital assessment, and editing material for rGrade. I am passionate about what I do, about spreading the word about using technology. |

| June: I graduated - commencement was
beautiful at Ball State, and I was able to celebrate with my
family. My family had been so supportive as I worked my way
through classes and taught at Wapahani at the same time. It was
literally a dream come true; I like taking classes, but with a daughter
already in college, I assumed that my studies would have to wait.
On June 28th I visited with my doctor and was shocked that he suspected cancer. I had no lumps, or other telling symptoms. How could this be true. I felt tainted, like July: August - November: This time was a blur of doctor appointments, visits to the hospital for chemotherapy and recuperating at home. August means "back to school" and being the nerd I am, I love "back to school". New books, pens, folders and binders. Cleaning my classroom to get ready for another new year, except this year - it meant dealing with a decision, would I work or not. |
